Electromagnetic whistler-mode chorus and electrostatic electron cyclotron harmonic (ECH) waves can contribute significantly to auroral electron precipitation and radiation belt electron acceleration. In the past, linear and nonlinear wave-particle interactions have been proposed to explain the occurrences of these magnetospheric waves.
